Leo pushed the plate of fruits away. It tumbled off the table and bounced into the garden. A ladybug crawled onto the apple skin.
Grandpa smiled and held out his hand. 'Come pick your own,' he said. Leo followed him through the green rows of the garden.
Leo picked a banana, then a cucumber, then an apple, then a peach. Each fruit felt different in his hand — smooth, bumpy, hard, fuzzy. He put them all in his pocket.
Leo took a big bite of the peach. Juice ran down his chin and he giggled.
The crunch of the apple sounded like a drum. The banana was sweet like a hug.
Leo ran back to the kitchen table and pulled the fruit plate close. He couldn't wait to try them all.
He ate the banana, the cucumber, the apple, and the peach. Each one tasted even better than before.
Leo set the empty plate down and looked up. 'Can I have seconds?' he asked.
