Leo and his mom are at the zoo. Today is a sunny field trip day!
Leo sees a bouncing ball. He runs after it and drops his mom's hand.
When Leo looks up, the crowd has swallowed her purple hat.
He stands very still, listening to the splash of water and the distant trumpeting of elephants.
He remembers his mom's words. He spots a trail of gray elephant footprints and starts walking.
The footprints wind past a fountain and split into three directions.
Leo crouches to look. He chooses the elephant path, and his shoulders relax.
He marches up to the blue information booth and tells the friendly zookeeper, "I'm looking for my mom."
The zookeeper speaks into a microphone, and Leo's eyes search the sea of faces.
Leo spots the purple hat. His mom breaks from the crowd and scoops him into a hug.
They walk back toward the penguins, Leo's hand firmly clasped in his mom's.
Leo points to the elephant footprints. "We followed the elephants," he says. His mom squeezes his hand.
