Leo shrinks his shoulders and slips through the fence. The big kids bump their heads on the bars. A tiny metallic jingle echoes from the dark tunnel.
He climbs the tall jungle gym ladder. His fingers are too short to grab the shiny star key stuck in the hole. It wobbles dangerously close to the sand.
The key slips! But a wind gust blows it up. Leo gasps and hooks it with one finger. The branch twitches, hiding something behind the climbing net.
Leo pops open the hidden box. Inside are glow-in-the-dark stickers that shine bright blue. He runs into the shadowy tunnel with them.
The bigger kids stop jumping and stare in shock. Leo sticks a blue glow sticker onto the knee of the tallest kid. His leg lights up like a firefly.
The kids cheer for the little boy who brought the magic back. They run around, leaving trails of blue light wherever they jump and play.
Leo sits on the bench next to the tallest kid. The teen carefully places a glowing sticker on Leo’s nose. Leo smiles softly.
The tunnel glows softly around them. Everyone plays together using the new lights. Being small means Leo gets to share the spark that makes the whole park shine.
