Leo climbed the creaky stairs to the dusty attic. Sunlight fell through a small round window. He lifted the heavy wooden box.
He pulled out a thick book with a blue cover. It hummed gently against his palms. What was it?
A tiny maze crawled out like a silver caterpillar. It scurried across the floor and vanished behind the bookshelf. Leo followed it.
He heard a soft whoosh. The second page fluttered open by itself — and a burst of rainbow color painted the dusty air!
A third page lifted and bloomed into origami birds. They circled his head — but their wings knocked the book shut with a loud THWACK!
Leo jumped back. His hand pressed to his chest. The attic door creaked open — a sliver of gray morning light waited outside.
He knelt and opened the book again. This time a cracked blank canvas appeared with a crayon resting beside it.
Leo picked up the crayon and drew a bright yellow sun. The room filled with warmth as paper petals curled upward from the page.
The petals turned into real daisies. They tuck themselves into his hair. Leo smiled at the empty page waiting beyond the last one.
The attic was no longer just an attic. It was a place where anything he made came alive. He reached for the next blank page.
