The golden savanna stretched far and wide. A little lion cub stood alone in the tall grass. He opened his mouth to roar.
He opened his mouth wide. Only a tiny squeak came out. His ears flattened against his head.
He tried again. Just a squeak. A tiny beetle marched over his toe. He let out a long sigh.
Dark clouds rolled across the sky. Rain began to fall on the savanna. The little lion cub sat in a patch of dry grass, watching the storm approach.
A zebra shivered in the rain. A giraffe huddled under a tree. The little lion cub trotted over to them.
"Don't be afraid," he said. His voice was steady and clear. The zebra looked up, surprised.
He encouraged the giraffe too. And then a big elephant joined them, trembling.
Then everything went quiet. A giant BOOM shook the ground. The friends covered their ears.
The little lion cub took a deep breath. He opened his mouth—and ROARED!
His roar bounced off the rocks like a drum. The friends looked up in wonder.
