Link stepped onto the floating castle floor. A loose stone caught his foot, and he stumbled forward.
The red and black fog swirled around his ankles, rumbling like low thunder. Link tried to walk past it, but the mist hissed sharply.
He waved his hands through the air, coughing as dark clouds tangled in his hair. The steam blocked his path completely.
Link picked up a small, glowing pebble from the floor. He threw it into the center of the fog bank.
The pebble vanished instantly. The fog shifted, forming a sad, wobbly face that mimicked his confused expression.
Suddenly, the fog lunged forward! It wrapped around Link’s legs in a tight, chilly hug and lifted him off the ground.
He stopped struggling. Instead, he gently patted the cold, swirling vapor on its head. 'Hello,' he whispered softly.
The fog shivered, then slowly turned from scary black to warm, golden light that filled the room.
