Little Bear held onto his mom's leg. The classroom door stood wide open.
Children's voices rose in a loud chorus. Little Bear squeezed his eyes shut.
His mom whispered, 'You can stay as long as you need.' Then she slipped away.
Little Bear stood all alone by the door. The noisy classroom stretched before him.
The bunny teacher waddled over and offered him a seat on the rug.
Little Bear stayed close to her side. He watched a child build a tall tower.
During circle time, Sam scooted over and held out a bright red block to him.
Little Bear took the block. He whispered his name so quietly the teacher had to lean in.
On the playground, Sam reached out his hand. 'Come play tag with us!'
Little Bear took Sam's hand and ran into the game. Everyone laughed when he almost tripped.
The next day, Little Bear walked into the classroom all by himself.
The other children waved and called his name. He marched straight to the block corner to build a tall tower.
