Little Johnny kicked off his sandals and dove into the cool blue water. Suddenly, a massive black bear rose from the deep end with a tremendous splash! The bear shook its wet fur, sending droplets onto Little Johnny’s nose. He blinked, surprised but not afraid.
The bear gave a mighty shake, sending glistening droplets onto Little Johnny's nose. He blinked, staring at the giant creature with wide eyes. 'Hello,' he thought. 'You're much bigger than I expected. And wetter than my bath.'
Little Johnny treads water and holds up his bright red swimsuit. 'Here,' he thought, 'you might like this.' The bear sniffed the fabric curiously. The pine scent of the forest mingled with the sharp chlorine smell of the pool.
The bear's nostrils flared at the chlorine scent. It let out a soft huff, then nudged the red swimsuit with its nose. 'Good,' Little Johnny thought. 'It likes it. Maybe we can be friends.'
Little Johnny climbed out of the pool and pulled the bear toward the wooden sauna. Heat waves shimmered against the cold air. He knocked on the cedar door. The bear nudged it open with its heavy head, and they stepped inside together.
Inside the warm cedar cabin, the bear let out a deep rumble that made the floorboards shake. Little Johnny giggled, pressing his ear to the wood. 'It's like a purr,' he thought.
In a moment of silly mischief, Little Johnny gave a tiny pee on the bear's soft paw. The bear let out a loud chuckle, shaking its head. 'Oops,' Little Johnny thought, blushing.
Little Johnny and the bear sat side by side on the wooden deck, watching the sun dip below the pine trees. In comfortable silence, the bear rested its giant head on Little Johnny's shoulder. 'This is nice,' he thought.
