Lucky struck her best superhero pose on the bed. Grandma clapped from the doorway. This was the best performance ever.
Lucky flipped into a new pose, hands on her hips. Mom joined Grandma, and they both laughed loudly. Lucky grinned wider.
One leg kicked up, arms spread wide like bug wings. The laughter grew even bigger. Lucky held the pose like a champion.
Lucky took a deep breath for the grand finale. Arms reached to the ceiling. She held it perfectly still. Then — PFFRRRRT.
Lucky's eyes went wide. Grandma snorted. Mom doubled over. Then Lucky looked down, blinked once, and burst out laughing. She tumbled backward onto the soft bed.
Everyone laughed even harder. Lucky wiped her eyes and sat up, still giggling. The ladybug costume felt very silly and very wonderful.
Lucky climbed back up and struck another dramatic ladybug pose. She let out a tiny squeak-laugh and wiggled her antennae.
From then on, every time Lucky posed dramatically on her bed, someone always ended up giggling. And that was perfect.
