Above the tall mountains, the little white cloud floated alone. Far below, the valley waited.
The little cloud drifted lower. Below, a patch of dry brown grass looked so thirsty. She remembered thunder and big heavy drops, and she trembled.
The little cloud puffed out her belly, trying to grow gray and heavy. A sunbeam tickled her side. She giggled and shrank back to white.
The little cloud took a deep breath and held it. A tiny silver drop formed at her lowest tip and fell.
The drop fell — plip — onto the brown grass. A green shoot uncurled right there. The little cloud gasped.
She let go. A gentle sprinkle rained down over the valley, painting everything in sparkling rainbows.
The little cloud floated higher. Her white fluff glowed bright in the sun. She felt so proud.
The green valley sparkled below. The little cloud floated on, happy.
