Lumi hopped beneath a sky crowded with stars. One little star twinkled—blink!—and a pinecone tumbled from Lumi’s paws.
Lumi scooped up the pinecone and waved both paws. The little star twinkled again. “Oh!” thought Lumi, while crickets chirped below.
Lumi hopped behind a fern and peeked out. The little star twinkled, so Lumi ducked down fast.
Lumi popped up too quickly. A leaf landed on Lumi’s nose, and Lumi giggled beneath the twinkling star.
Lumi carried a smooth stone into the forest clearing. Holding it up like a gift, Lumi looked toward the little star.
Clouds slid across the sky and covered the little star. The clearing turned dark, and Lumi lowered the stone beside the moss.
Lumi waited beside the stone and tapped it softly. Tap, tap. The clouds began to drift away.
The clouds drifted away—blink, blink! The little star shone brighter than before, sprinkling silver light across the moss.
Lumi curled beside the stone as the little star twinkled above. Crickets sang, leaves rustled, and Lumi smiled up at the sky.
Tomorrow night, Lumi would look again. Blink!
