Luna stomped her foot and the ground shook. Pip tumbled into the soft grass with a loud 'Waaah!' She scooped him up. 'Come on, little sprout — today we explore,' she rumbled gently.
They marched past the crackling waterfall. Its spray tickled Pip's nose. He pointed at the glittering lake in the distance and dashed toward it.
Pip reached the squelchy mud along the shore and stopped dead. He lifted one foot — stretch — and the mud made a wet pop sound as it tried to stick.
Pip wiggled his toes in the shiny brown puddle and hopped once, twice, thrice — each hop left a tiny footprint. Luna leaned down and booped his nose with her own snout. 'My own little dino-stamp,' she chuckled.
A shimmering dragonfly zipped past Pip's ear and landed right on his head. Pip froze, eyes wide, then giggled so hard he fell onto his back.
Luna nudged him with her shoulder and they lay there together, watching the sky turn orange and pink.
Luna curled her long tail around Pip and they settled against the warm rocks by the lake. The mountains glowed purple in the fading light.
Pip yawned, rested his chin on his paws, and closed his eyes. The world went quiet and safe.
