Luna sat outside her burrow and counted the stars. One by one they blinked in the dark sky. Then a small star tumbled down with a soft thud. It landed in the meadow grass. She hopped over to investigate.
The star trembled in her paws. A silver thread trailed from its base. Its light had shrunk to a faint glow. She wrapped her arms around it. What will I do to help it go home? she thought.
ومن
One branch after another. The star kept sliding free. Her ears drooped. She carried it back down and looked at the tallest tree at the meadow's edge.
She bounced the star toward the sky. It fell into a puddle. Ripples of light spread across the water like rings. She lifted it out with her ears cupped. The star shivered but glowed a shade brighter.
Fireflies gathered around her. She asked them to lift the star. They formed a glowing ladder in the air. But a breeze scattered them. The star cried out a tiny musical sound.
She hugged the star close. I won't give up, she whispered to it. The star's light surged, bright and steady. A path of moonbeams appeared on the ground before her.
Luna followed the moonbeam path to the meadow's edge. The grass grew tall and quiet. She held the star up high and waited.
The star rose slowly. It floated up past the tall grass, past the low branches, rising until it popped back into the sky with a soft chime. Luna watched it blink at her.
Luna waved her paw. The star twinkled once in reply. She turned and began the walk home.
Luna trotted back through the sleeping forest. The burrow was dark and cozy inside. She curled up beside her bed and hummed softly.
Outside, the stars blinked down on the meadow. The little white rabbit slept, and the forest dreamed on.
