Luna lived in a cozy house at the end of a quiet street. One night, her room was dark and quiet.
She pulled the blanket over her head, but a flicker of light danced past her window. Something was outside.
She peered out and saw a tiny yellow light bobbing in the dark garden — a firefly, tapping against the glass.
Luna opened the back door and stepped onto the porch. 'Wait for me,' she whispered.
The firefly zipped backward, then forward, then backward again. Luna followed it into the yard, her bare feet touching cool grass.
The firefly led her past the squeaky swing set, where it suddenly vanished. Luna stopped and looked around.
She stepped forward. Then the firefly reappeared above the old oak tree, hovering near something glowing.
Luna gasped. She sat down slowly on the grass. The firefly circled her head three times.
It landed gently on her outstretched finger. It pulsed warm yellow light.
Luna smiled and stayed perfectly still, watching the night bloom around her.
Luna climbed back into bed. The window was open, and the night air was cool and sweet.
She drifted off to sleep with the soft glow of fireflies painting her room in gentle light.
