The tallest tree in the jungle held a single golden banana at its very top, catching sunlight like a tiny lamp in the green dark. The whole canopy hummed with waiting.

Maca swung up through the treetops. Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh — branch after branch, higher still, his tail curling tight around every new grip.

He yanked his free hand up and SNATCHED the golden banana! The trunk GROANED and swayed hard. A storm of green leaves rained down on his head.

Maca dangled by one arm, banana clamped between his chattering teeth, leaves still bouncing off his fur. "Almost," he muttered, kicking toward the slide-down branch.

Slide, slide, WHOOSH — his feet kicked up and the banana went spinning free! Down, down, down the rough bark he shot.

He lunged. Fingers closed around the banana mid-air! SPLAT — moss cushioned his landing. "Got it!" Maca shouted, grinning so wide his ears showed.

Maca sprinted through the jungle, banana held high overhead. Branches tapped tap-tap-tap against his back. The sunny clearing shimmered ahead.

He skidded to a stop. Four friends sat in a circle, mouths open, eyes locked on the glowing banana. One banana. Four friends.

Maca snapped the banana in half, then in quarters. One by one, pieces landed in eager paws. CHOMP! Golden juice squirted down a chin, splatting on the green grass.

Maca sat cross-legged in the warm patch of light, licking a golden smudge from his thumb. A friend giggled, banana shard stuck to her nose. Pop. A tiny seed fell, and four small mouths kept happily munching.
