The toy store was full of noise. Bells, clicks, and giggles filled the air. Malky looked at everything.
Mirel stood by the rainbow shelf. She opened her sparkly pink purse and handed Malky a golden token. 'You can pick one toy first,' she said, winking.
Malky's eyes went wide. She glanced at the token, then at the noisy ride-on dinosaur across the aisle.
Malky shook her head. 'No thank you,' she said, and pushed the golden token back toward Mirel. She pointed at a squeaky rubber chicken instead.
Malky tiptoed away from the rainbow shelf, the token still warm in her hand.
She walked past a bouncy robot and a puzzle box that hummed. Then she spotted the designer dolls wearing tiny sunglasses. She stopped.
Malky tapped her chin. 'Can I have all of them?' she asked, her eyes shining.
Malky lifted the designer dolls, the robot, and the puzzle box into her arms. The dolls' sunglasses caught the light — winky flashes danced on the floor.
Mirel clapped once, soft and quick. 'You chose well, Malky,' she said, smiling.
Malky hugged the toys close. They were her favorites. Not the dinosaur — not the token. All of them.
Mirel opened her sparkly pink purse again. 'One more for you,' she said, and handed Malky another golden token.
Malky grinned. Two tokens, two chances. She would pick the best things — the very best.
