Mia carried the picnic basket into the sun-dappled clearing. Whoosh! A paper napkin flew away, and children’s laughter floated through the trees.
Mia raced after the napkin. It swooped past a fern, spun above a mossy log, and landed beside a sunny tree.
Mia brought the napkin back and stopped near Aarav’s blanket. Aarav patted an empty spot. “You can sit here.”
Mia held the basket handles tightly and sat down. Crackle, crackle went the leaves beneath her shoes.
Mia opened the basket. A round apple rolled downhill. Aarav chased it, tripped over a twig, and landed with the apple balanced on his head.
Mia giggled and helped Aarav up. Then she offered him the apple. “Here you go!”
Mia and Aarav spread the picnic together. Suddenly, a strong breeze lifted the blanket like a flying carpet!
They tugged and tugged. Whoomp! The blanket dropped over both their heads, and laughter rang through the clearing.
Mia peeked out and scooted beside Aarav. They shared sandwiches and apple slices beneath the dancing sunlight.
When playtime ended, Mia waved goodbye. A special picnic spot waited on the blanket for their next visit.
