Milo squeezes through the ferns in his yellow sweater and red scarf. A soft *thump* makes him stop. Something glows on the moss.
A small silver light flickers — a star, no bigger than an acorn. Its glow pulses like a tiny heartbeat.
Milo lifts the star gently. It shines warm against his paws. He holds it high and throws — but it drops back with a sad little *fizz*.
He scoops it up again. Milo carries the star up the fallen log. He tries to push it into a gap between branches — but it slides right through.
*Boop.* The star lands on a blue mushroom. It hums a wobbly blue sound. Fireflies lean in to watch.
Milo has an idea. He hoists the star onto his back and climbs the tallest oak. His little claws scrape the bark as he goes higher and higher.
At the very top, the star pulses wild and bright. Milo wraps his red scarf around it. He gives one mighty heave —
— the star ZOOMS upward! A streak of silver light trails golden sparkles like glitter. It rises through the darkening sky.
Milo stands at the top of the tree. His yellow sweater is dusted with golden sparkles. He watches the star blink once from the sky.
A new friend among the others. Milo smiles. He thinks: I did that.
Milo climbs down slowly. His red scarf flies behind him like a tiny flag.
The forest is quiet and dark. Above, the new star glows — a tiny silver friend watching over everything.
