Milo hopped through the tall clover. Something sparkled in the dark.
Under a pile of fallen daisy petals, something small and dim was shivering.
Milo picked it up. It felt warm and smelled like summer rain.
The star floated up — then drifted back down with a quiet click.
Milo carried the star to the old stone wall. He began to climb.
The star giggled. Golden sparkles puffed all over Milo's ears.
At the top, Milo tossed the star into the sky.
ZIP! It zoomed right next to the moon and twinkled down at him.
Milo sat back in the clover and looked up at the sky.
The little star shone brighter than all the others.
It winked at him like a friend who finally found her place.
Milo smiled. He knew she was home.
