The enchanted forest glowed silver under the moon. Milo stood at the edge of a mossy clearing.
Milo tugged at his blue scarf. The wind was asleep tonight.
A leaf drifted down — ticklish, soft, gone. Milo sneezed.
Pip hopped in, red kite dangling from his paw. 'The knot's stuck,' he said.
Milo grabbed one end. Pip grabbed the other. They pulled. The knot didn't budge.
Milo blew on the string. Pip shook it. Milo tapped it with his tail. Nothing.
The red kite drooped, heavy and gray in the dark. Milo thought hard.
Milo tied his blue scarf to the kite string and held it high.
Pip lifted the kite. The wind caught — WHOOSH!
The red kite shot upward like a second moon. Milo's ears went wide.
Milo and Pip stood side by side, watching the kite circle in the starlight.
Milo's scarf fluttered. Pip giggled and bounced on his heels. The forest glowed.
