The warm sun lit up the sunny meadow. Milo hopped through the golden grass, his tiny blue scarf fluttering behind him like a little flag in the breeze.
Milo stopped at a green clover leaf. A tiny ladybug lay upside down on it, her little red legs wiggling in the air. She looked very stuck indeed.
"I'm stuck!" cried the ladybug. "I'm upside down and can't get right!" Milo crouched down close, his big ears perked up as he looked at her.
The ladybug pointed with her antennae toward a faraway patch of bright red poppies. "That's my home, but I can't find the way through all this grass."
Milo nodded slowly. He unfolded his blue scarf and spread it flat like a little carpet. "Climb aboard," he said gently. "I can carry you there."
Hop-hop-hop they went through the tall grass. But the grass was so thick and tall that Milo could barely see where to go. He stopped and blinked.
"Can you guide me?" Milo asked. The ladybug pointed her antennae this way and that, searching for the right direction through the green walls of grass.
"This way!" she chirped, pointing forward. Milo followed her directions, hopping carefully until the grass parted and the bright red poppies grew taller and much closer.
Suddenly a butterfly swooped down and fluttered right in front of Milo's face, its wings flashing bright blue and yellow. Milo jumped with a big start!
The ladybug tumbled off the scarf and landed in a soft pile of floating dandelion fluff. She bounced like a little red ball on a trampoline.
She popped right back up, as if nothing had happened at all. She shook her little legs and called, "I'm perfectly fine! Thank you for the ride!"
Milo carried the ladybug the rest of the way to her bright red poppy patch. She climbed down, waved her little legs at him, and Milo hopped home with his blue scarf trailing behind.
