The meadow glowed gold in the morning sun. Tall grasses whispered at the edge of a whispering forest. Mina stepped into the green sea.
Mina crouched in the tall grass. A fluffy white tail peeked between clover stems. She held out a bright yellow dandelion.
The rabbit froze. Its ears lay flat against its head. Then it vanished into a hollow log with a soft thump.
Mina set the dandelion on the grass. Then she walked to the whispering trees, where a red fox waited.
'Hello,' Mina whispered. She offered a shiny blueberry from her pocket. The fox tilted its head and bolted behind a birch tree.
Mina placed clover near the log and berries near the birch. She sat between them and counted out loud.
The fox slipped forward first, sniffing the berries. Then the rabbit snatched the clover in one quick gulp and disappeared.
The next morning, both animals sat side by side, tails almost touching. The fox nudged a daisy toward her. The rabbit rested its chin on Mina's knee.
