Mira drapes a quilt over two chairs. 'The Canyon of Doom!' she shouts. She leaps across the gap, arms windmilling, and lands with a soft thump.
Mira crawls under the table. Her eyes go wide. A yellow ribbon of sunlight lies across the rug like a shimmering path. She traces it with one finger.
Mira stacks three cushions into a mountain and scrambles up. Pip watches from below, tail twitching. He launches himself upward and gets stuck between two pillows!
Mira pulls Pip free and they tumble into the soft pile together, giggling. The sunbeam drifts across the floor, inching toward the window.
Mira dives for the sunbeam with a pillow, but it slips away. She tries again with a blanket, and again with a shoe. Pip sits and watches, tail still.
Each time the light dances just out of reach. Pip sits and watches, tail still, as the beam inches toward the glass. Mira gasps. She has an idea.
Pip pounces — onto the window sill! He presses his fluffy body against the warm wood. The sunbeam stops, caught like a butterfly in a jar.
Mira collapses onto the rug beside him, laughing. She curls up in the golden pool and Pip purrs against her shoulder.
