A glowing firefly zipped past Mira’s nose. She followed it beneath whispering trees and into the enchanted forest.
The firefly flickered over a patch of shadows. From beneath the leaves came a tiny squeak: “Help!”
Mira knelt beside the baby dragon and held up a broad leaf like an umbrella. “There you are,” she said.
The baby dragon sneezed a puff of glittering smoke. “Achoo!” The smoke singed the leaf, and Mira giggled.
A deep dragon call rumbled along a darker path. Mira pointed toward the sound, and the baby dragon hurried after the fireflies.
Tangled vines blocked the way. Mira pulled hard while the baby dragon blew a tiny flame. Pop! The vines sprang open.
Beyond the vines, sparkling footprints appeared. Mira and the baby dragon followed them deeper beneath the trees.
At the moonlit clearing, the baby dragon heard its mother’s roar and raced ahead. Then a branch snapped. “Wait!”
Mira took the baby dragon’s claw. Together, they walked beneath the moonlit branches, one careful step at a time.
A huge dragon swooped from the sky. Warm, smoky wings wrapped around Mira and the baby dragon, and a soft roar filled the clearing.
The mother dragon nuzzled Mira and gave her one bright spark from its flame. The spark floated above her like a tiny lantern.
Mira followed the fireflies home beneath the whispering trees. Behind her, the baby dragon waved and chirped from the glowing clearing.
