Mira squeezed into her riverside studio. Her brush was almost as big as she was. She stared at the blank paper and frowned.
She dipped her brush in paint and made a big blue circle. Then — sneeze! — a splash of gold paint leapt onto the floor. Mira's eyes went wide.
Mira dragged the glowing brush across the floor. Shimmering birds took shape among the dots. She giggled and painted a second flock.
The baker peeked through the door, his bread basket tipping over with a loud thud. "Oh!" he said, eyes round.
Mira carried her brush up the rolling green hill and swept it across the grass in big, bold strokes.
The whole village trailed behind her, shoes crunching on the path. They stopped at the very top.
Mira stepped back. The hill now showed green hills and a blue river — shimmering in the afternoon light. The village clapped and cheered.
Mira stood taller than she ever had before.
