curious, brave, cheerful

wonder and curiosity

Mira spotted something strange inside the old oak tree. A tiny glowing door shimmered in the bark. She pressed her palm against it — and the door swung open!

Her eyes widened at the golden light spilling through. With a deep breath, she stepped forward into the glow.

The ground tilted. She slid sideways and bumped her knees on something soft — a giant mushroom. She giggled.

The grass was slippery and funny. She wobbled and laughed, sliding deeper into the glowing woods.

Something with twig antlers hopped down. "What has roots but no dirt?" it asked. Mira guessed, "A table?"

The creature shook its head. Acorns tumbled down and landed right on her nose. She sneezed and giggled.

Mira climbed a giant dandelion. At the top, everything flipped — her feet were in the sky and she laughed all the way down.

From the dandelion fluff, a vine creature peeked out. "What is the key to everywhere?" Mira said, "Curiosity!"

The vine's eyes sparkled. A breeze smelled of cinnamon. Mira scrambled back through the golden door.

Her backyard looked normal again. But the leaf in her pocket pulsed softly. She skipped toward the house, already dreaming of tomorrow.
