Sabina slumped in her grey cubicle. A paper mountain towered on her desk. The fluorescent light buzzed overhead. She traced a finger along the edge of the top sheet. Yawn.
She straightened up. Her blue blazer became a cape. The blue pencil slid through her hair like a feather. Miss Kleptomaniac had arrived. She tiptoed past the meeting room. A glance from a colleague. Freeze!
Back at her desk, she snatched a pen and slapped it onto the paperwork. The sheet kept sliding away. She braced it with her elbow. The pen squeaked. Then she began to draw.
A round nose. Two wobbly eyes. An enormous crooked grin. The silly face stared back. She leaned back and covered her mouth. A giggle burst out, bouncing off the grey walls.
The silly face sat grinning on her desk. Sabina picked up another document. A second face appeared beside the first. The fluorescent buzz sounded almost musical. The paper mountain didn't look quite so endless.
Two silly faces grinned up at her from the desk. She picked up a third document. The pen hovered. Then it touched paper. And another face began to take shape.
Three silly faces now, all wearing enormous grins. Sabina leaned back in her chair. The grey cubicle didn't look quite so grey anymore.
She picked up her blue pencil from her hair. Miss Kleptomaniac returned to work. But her silly faces kept grinning. And the paper mountain? It had a new guardian.
