Molly trotted down Maple Street. She stopped at every doorstep to bark and wag.
A moving truck rumbled up to the blue house. Molly trotted over and barked her hello. A girl stepped out, holding a yellow umbrella. She didn't say anything.
The next morning, Molly waited by the blue house. The girl opened the door and saw her. Molly barked a loud WOOF and wagged so hard her whole body shook.
The girl smiled a little and gave a tiny wave. Molly barked again, louder, and hopped in a circle. The girl laughed out loud!
Rain poured the next day. Molly kept going from house to house with her happy barks. When she reached the blue house, the girl was already there—standing in the rain with both arms out.
Molly stopped dead. The girl pointed at a puddle and barked back—a silly quiet woof.
Molly splashed into the puddle, sending water flying everywhere. The girl squealed with laughter.
Now every morning, Molly trots down Maple Street with a yellow umbrella bobbing beside her.
She barks at Mrs. Chen, who barks back. The postman bows.
Molly wags and the girl wags her umbrella. Together they make the whole street laugh.
