In a sunny tropical village, the tallest banana tree rose above every roof and palm.
Momo scrambled up the rough trunk, past thick green fronds, until he reached the very top.
There — the last golden banana, glowing in the sun. He plucked it, and took a big crunchy bite.
But when Momo swung down, he froze — a whole line of hungry neighbors was shuffling past his favorite sitting rock.
Step, drag, sigh. Step, drag, sigh. Momo looked at his half-eaten banana, then at the empty path.
He dropped the banana, clapped twice, and let out a loud monkey call that echoed through the whole village.
His friends came sprinting back in a tangle of excited limbs and happy sounds.
Momo picked up the banana and broke it into perfect pieces for everyone.
They all crunch together beneath the swaying leaves, sticky fingers and happy laughter filling the air.
The village filled with happy chatter and the soft rustle of banana leaves.
