Mos zipped his tiny suitcase. Quito bumped it and socks flew everywhere. "Let's go to the beach!"
Mos grabbed the suitcase handle. Quito bounced on one foot. Fireflies danced around them.
Quito tripped on a root. His red hat sailed up into a pine tree. "Oopsie!" he scratched his head.
At the beach, Quito carried the picnic cooler but tripped over a shadow. Crack crackers scattered. A seagull swooped and flew off with the cooler.
Quito sat on a driftwood log. His shoulders sank. "I'm sorry, Mos. Every plan went wrong. I ruined it."
Mos sat beside him and pointed. The tide sparkled gold in the fading sunset light.
Mos and Quito splashed and jumped in the waves. Seagulls circled above. They laughed and waded deeper together.
The sun sank below the horizon. Mos and Quito stood together in the sparkling sea.
