The screen flashed GAME OVER. Again.
Neon's ears went warm. He stared at the ceiling.
He pressed start again. His character tripped over a rock.
His foot tapped the carpet. Click-click-click went the buttons.
Game over. For the third time.
"You've been laughing at your own moves the whole time," his friend said.
Neon looked at his friend's grinning face. Then at the screen.
He took a deep breath and started a new round. This time, his character did a silly dance.
His friend howled with laughter and banged his knee against the bed frame.
"You're a champion!" his friend said. Neon just laughed. The controllers rested on the bed as they both stared at the glowing screens.
