Noah sat with his three best friends at the big yellow table, trading crackers and telling jokes about the math worksheet.
A boy stood alone by the swing set, swinging slowly, watching them.
Noah spotted him and stopped laughing for just a second.
He waved his arm high.
"Come on!" he called.
The boy froze.
His swing stopped. Creak.
Noah slid off the bench and held out his hand.
He waited.
The boy walked over. His shoes scuffed the ground.
Noah pulled out the empty chair.
The boy sat. Noah passed him a cracker.
