Noki blinked awake in a forest of silver leaves. They chimed like tiny bells in the breeze. He sniffed the air — warm honey, somewhere nearby.
His ears twitched. A musical sound drifted through the trees — soft, sweet, calling him forward. He padded quietly toward it.
He followed a path where purple mushrooms giggled as he passed. One wiggled away when he reached out — plop! It splashed into a sparkling puddle.
The giggling mushrooms led him upward, past the silver trees, toward a snowy mountain. The air grew crisp and clean. Noki climbed, his breath puffing white.
At the top, in a circle of ice, something red lay still. Noki crept closer. It was a fox tail — bright red, soft, and humming a happy tune.
Noki's own tail gave a slow wag. He picked up the red tail. It melted into a warm glow that spread over his fur.
His tail puffed out — bigger, fluffier, sparkling! Noki gasped, then spun around in a circle. His new tail billowed like a dandelion in the wind.
Noki leaped into the sky! His fluffy tail drifted him down gently, like a parachute. He waved his paws at the clouds below.
He landed softly in a meadow where flowers sang. Each bloom opened wide and hummed a different note. Noki sat down and listened.
The flowers hummed together, a lullaby for the little fox. Noki curled into a ball, wrapping his sparkly tail around his nose. He closed his eyes.
Above, the first stars appeared. The meadow hummed on, a lullaby for the little fox with the sparkly tail.
Noki dreamed of silver leaves and giggling mushrooms. And somewhere, a red tail waited for the next adventure.
