Numberblock 1 stepped over a jumble of foam letters. Something clattered. A bright letter P rolled under the toy truck and wiggled free.
Numberblock 1 reached down and picked up the letter P. It held the block up to the light and smiled.
Numberblock 1 lined up three blocks — S, A, T. It patted each one flat. A soft golden glow rose from the letters.
Numberblock 1 tried TAP and PAT and ATP, but none of them glowed. It stacked the blocks into a tower — and it tipped over with a soft thunk.
The blocks scattered across the alphabet mat. Numberblock 1 gathered them up and lined them up again — S, then A, then T — pressing each one down firmly.
The letters glowed bright gold and hummed with a happy vibration under Numberblock 1's hands.
Numberblock 1 did a happy jump and clapped the blocks together. SAT glowed and stayed lit.
Numberblock 1 beamed and patted the glowing word. It looked around the classroom as if the whole room could see the new word shining.
