Oleksiy's bedroom bell jingles loudly. He tumbles out of bed, trips over his sock, and grins. The bright clang means it is Monday!
He marches to the school gate. The bell rings again. "See you later!" he calls, and runs inside.
On Tuesday, Oleksiy and his friends splash purple paint everywhere. Oops — a mustache lands right on his nose!
They burst into giggles. Oleksiy tries not to laugh but fails. Paint is much more fun than homework.
On Wednesday, the playground comes alive. "Ready or not, here I come!" Oleksiy calls. He counts to ten and turns around.
They freeze like statues with one eye open. Oleksiy spots them all. "I see you!" he shouts, and they all cheer.
On Thursday, dance music blares from a neighborhood radio. Oleksiy's shoes start tapping on their own.
He joins a dance circle with everyone. The streetlights flicker in time. Oleksiy spins, and the whole street spins with him.
On Friday, Oleksiy watches the clock spin slowly. One more day until Saturday.
Saturday brings a slow walk through the park. Golden leaves crunch under Oleksiy's sneakers.
Sunday arrives with a cozy chair and a warm cup of cocoa. Oleksiy opens his sketchbook.
He draws the bell, the purple paint, the dancing street, and the golden leaves. His breathing slows. The week was perfect.
