At the edge of the woods, a pink slide glowed against the trees. Luna pressed her palm to it — warm, humming. Before she could think, she slid down.
She landed on a doorstep carved with glowing letters. The brass knocker winked. The door swung open — warm light spilled out, and she stepped inside.
The armchairs shifted like they were settling in for a story. The clock chimed a tune almost familiar. She touched the wallpaper — it rippled like water.
A wind chime sounded from inside the walls. She followed the music and found another pink slide coiled in the corner, humming just like the first.
Down the slide she went — and dropped into a kitchen where the refrigerator glowed with jars of swirling colors instead of food.
A wooden spoon tapped a pot all by itself. She reached for the nearest jar — it pulsed gently against her fingertips, like a heartbeat.
The next slide dropped her into a playroom. Pillows bounced like they had lives of their own, and a toy train traced a ribbon through the air.
A blue marble floated up from the floor and spun on the windowsill beside a paper boat that flapped its sail. Her laugh echoed back in three voices.
Up the final pink slide she climbed, into a bedroom. The window looked out on a house she had never seen — except it was exactly the one she had always imagined.
On the bedside table sat a silver key with a tag reading LO1 4VE. When she picked it up, it grew warm — and fit perfectly into her bedroom door at home.
She closed her eyes and smiled. Tomorrow, she knew exactly what she would build.
The key rested in her pocket. Outside the window, the magical house shimmered once — then went still, waiting.
