Pennyus rolled down the grassy hill—round and quick! Below, Romulus and Remus argued beside the Tiber River. “This bank!” “That bank!”
Pennyus zipped between the brothers and bumped a stone. Plink! Sunlight flashed across the little coin.
Romulus reached for Pennyus. Remus reached too, and their hands met above the little coin. “Oh!”
Pennyus rolled toward Romulus, then back toward Remus. A tiny circle appeared in the grass.
Romulus listened as Remus pointed to one riverbank. Then Remus listened as Romulus pointed to the other. The reeds whispered, shhh.
But the arguing began again. Pennyus rolled faster—zig, zag, zip! A gust spun the little coin into a shallow puddle.
Pennyus popped out with a funny muddy sparkle. Romulus and Remus laughed. “Again!”
The brothers sat beside Pennyus and listened without interrupting. They pointed to the hill, the river, and the open grass.
