Percy tiptoed down the cobblestone path, his three purple bandanas fluttering. A sudden thwack made him stop. He crouched and saw a little bird trembling on the ground.
He gently wrapped the bird in his softest bandana. The bird chirped sadly and nuzzled his nose. Percy looked up at the tall oak.
Percy tried to climb the oak, but his hooves slipped on the bark. The bird chirped sadly. He patted its head and thought, I need a better way up.
Percy spotted a sturdy ladder leaning against the baker's fence. He set it against the oak and carefully climbed up.
A sudden gust of wind tugged at his bandanas and made him wobble. He steadied himself and held out his arms.
The bird hopped safely into the nest. Percy smiled and started to climb down.
Percy tiptoed back down the path, the silver feather now tucked beside his blue pebble. He hummed a happy tune.
Every small treasure he found felt a little brighter now. Percy tiptoed home, his bandanas bouncing with each step.
