A silver moonbeam struck the toy pig on the nightstand. He wiggled. The children sat up and gasped.
His tin key clicked. Click-clack. The toy pig opened his mouth — toot-squeak!
Pip tried again. Only bzzzt-bzzzt came out. He tapped his hooves — tap, tap, tap — on the wood.
Then the sweetest lullaby poured out. Golden music spilled like honey across the room. The painted stars on the ceiling began to glow.
The children's eyelids drooped. Their breathing slowed. The golden music wrapped around them like a blanket.
Morning sun painted the room gold. Pip sat perfectly still on his shelf.
The children hugged him tight before breakfast. 'Thank you, Pip,' they whispered.
His snout wiggled just a little.
