Pippa kicks the soccer ball hard across the sunny park. *Thwack* goes her foot. The ball zips past a bench, a bush, toward a group with a red blanket.
Dad, Mom, and Leo run after it — long legs, bouncing stride, tiny fast feet. They all reach the ball at once. Tap-tap-tap goes their feet on the grass!
Dad kicks — the ball bounces toward the pond. Mom chases it, but a squirrel darts across and she trips. Leo tries to headbutt it, but the ball rolls behind a big oak tree.
Pippa plops down on the grass and kicks at a dandelion. She spots the ball wedged in the oak tree roots.
She climbs up — one foot, two feet, hand on rough bark — and reaches for the ball. It wobbles loose and drops right onto her head. *Bonk.*
The ball bounces off her head and soars upward, higher than the slide, higher than the swings, higher than anything.
The ball comes down and lands with a soft *thump* right in the middle of the red blanket, where a chalk-drawn goal sits.
Pippa scrambles down, runs over, and gently nudges the ball across the line. Dad scoops her up. Leo jumps on her shoulders!
Mom lifts the red blanket like a flag and they all dance in a wobbly circle under the warm sun.
The ball soars higher than the slide, higher than the swings, higher than anything. *Bonk.* Right onto Pippa's head.
