On the wall, a giant alphabet poster glowed in the sun. The letters wiggled and danced. Pip grabbed a blue crayon and traced the letter A.
Blue for A. Red for B. Yellow for C. The crayons went rattle-rattle in the box.
E was tricky. Pip pressed and pressed until — rip! The paper tore.
F looked like a backward E. G got all tangled. Oh no — the crayon rolled right off the table! Clatter-clatter-tumble!
Pip picked up each crayon and lined them up. Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Purple. The poster seemed to smile.
Pip traced A again, slowly this time. Then B. Then C. Each letter got its own color.
Then Pip wrote the letters of their own name. P. I. P. The letters glowed bright and bold.
Pip held up the paper. The letters sparkled. A big grin spread across their face.
Pip pinned the paper to the wall, right next to the big alphabet poster. It looked perfect.
The classroom was quiet. The crayons rattled softly in their box. Pip looked at the wall and whispered, 'My name.'
The letters on the poster seemed to wiggle a little, just like they were smiling back.
Pip sat down at the table and picked up a green crayon. Ready for the next letter.
