Morning light warmed the meadow. Pip scurried out of his burrow. A red berry gleamed ahead.
Pip picked it up and held it close. It smelled sweet.
A beetle tripped over a pebble. Pip lifted it onto a leaf.
A squirrel hung upside-down from a branch. Pip nudged it down. The squirrel scrambled up and brushed past, his tail tickling Pip's nose.
A bird shivered under a fern. Pip tucked grass around her. She chirped softly.
Pip reached the berry patch. Dozens of ripe berries glowed red and purple. He filled his paws and turned home. Something rustled behind the bushes.
The beetle, the squirrel, and the bird emerged. They stood in a circle around Pip and the berries. Pip looked at his friends, then at the berries.
Pip rolled a purple berry to the bird. She pecked and her eyes went wide. He shared a red berry with the squirrel. The beetle crawled along a blueberry stem.
