The sun warmed the garden path. Blades of grass waved in the breeze, and flowers nodded their bright heads.
Pip the ant found a giant crumb on the path. She pushed. She pulled. It did not move.
She tapped her antennae twice. Too heavy, she thought. Pip marched away.
Pip returned with four friends. They lined up beside the crumb and pushed together.
The crumb wobbled. Then—crunch—it tipped onto its side.
A dusting of crumbs scattered across the grass. Pip smiled. Just right.
Pip climbed on top and directed her friends to lift from underneath.
A gust of wind swept down the path. The crumb rolled—fast—toward a puddle!
The crumb splashed through the water with a loud plop. Pip steered them clear.
The ants carried the wet crumb across the garden. Damp leaves sparkled in the sunlight.
They settled the crumb inside the nest. The walls smelled of earth and safety.
Pip stood on top while the others settled around her. The garden floor vibrated with quiet happy clicks.
