Through a curtain of green leaves, the garden glowed with golden morning light. The air smelled sweet like crushed petals.
Pip stepped into the clearing and took a little hop. Then another. Then another.
A blue butterfly drifted down and landed right on Pip's nose. It wiggled its antennae.
The butterfly tickled Pip's whiskers. He froze, eyes wide and round. 'What a funny visitor,' he thought.
The butterfly fluttered away along a path lined with tiny flowers. Pip followed, nose pointed forward.
At the end of the path stood a bright red toadstool with white spots. Pip reached out a paw.
He tapped the cap. It bounced once — then giggled! 'Hey, that tickles!' it seemed to say.
Pip giggled too, his little quills bouncing. 'This garden is full of surprises,' he thought.
Near the brook, a green frog hopped to the edge and SPLASHED right in.
A fish jumped and sprayed cool drops across the path. Lily pads shivered in the ripple.
Pip laughed out loud and shook his wet quills, sending droplets flying.
Then a loud WHOOSH rumble swept through the garden. Every flower, mushroom, and leaf began to glow!
Soft gold, pink, and blue light pulsed all at once. Pip gasped in wonder.
He clapped his little paws as the glowing light danced across his quills.
The blue butterfly landed on his left shoulder. The red toadstool rolled to rest under his right paw.
The green frog sat on a lily pad beside him. Pip reached out and gently touched each friend, smiling big.
