Pip peered over the cloud-rail. Below, bright stars glittered like lanterns.
Pip set down the mug with a quiet clink. He reached toward a bright star, but his glow stayed small.
Pip hopped to Luna’s crater. Luna stirred her glow-pot, sending silver ribbons spinning.
Pip tried: stir, twirl, spin. The pot sputtered, spitting yellow sparks across the floor.
A crumpled glow-cloth landed nearby. Pip wiped the rim and tried again.
Pip climbed the highest cloud-stair and touched the moon. His reflection flickered like a tiny dot.
The moon hummed softly. Pip slipped down the last step, and his glow became a sleepy whisper.
A tiny fox tumbled from the clouds and burrowed into the moss. It whimpered behind its paws.
Pip hovered close. His gentle yellow light pooled over the fox’s fur.
The fox’s breathing slowed. Its ears relaxed, and a small smile appeared.
The fox curled beneath Pip’s crater. Golden dreams spiraled from its nose.
Below, badgers, owls, and hedgehogs dreamed beneath Pip’s light. Pip lifted his warm tea and let his flicker stay.
