Potato watches the other sheep prance through the sunny pasture. Their wool is smooth and white. He looks down at his own thick, lumpy fleece and hops away from the flock.
Potato sneaks into the farmer's wooden shed. He dips his wool deep into a paint bucket and shakes himself dry. Now he is bright blue and dripping!
He trots back to the flock, bright blue and dripping. The other sheep stop chewing and stare in silence. A lamb giggles. Potato's ears droop.
Potato wraps himself in a burlap sack. He crawls around like a chicken, pecking at the ground and clucking. The other sheep stare, then turn away. He pulls off the sack and stands alone.
Dark clouds roll over the pasture, swallowing the sunlight. Wind howls across the green fields, bending the grass. Rain lashes down in sheets.
Potato's thick, lumpy fleece soaks up the water and keeps him warm. He bleats and runs toward a shivering lamb huddled under a bush, its thin fleece plastered flat.
Potato pushes the little lamb close into his lumpy fleece. They huddle together as the storm rages, warm and safe.
When the sun comes out, Potato shakes himself proud, his wool bumpy and bright. The flock gathers close around him, curious and warm.
