Prickles marched to the pink preschool door. His quills snagged the fabric and yanked his tunic backward. "Help!" he squeaked.
He peeked through the window. Inside, bunnies and kittens hugged during story time. He tried to squeeze through the gap. Poof! Three bunnies tumbled into a pile of cushions.
The teacher held up a shiny golden apple. "Who can carry this to the snack table?" Prickles curled into a tight prickly ball.
The apple wobbled in her hands. Then it tipped over the edge of the table and rolled straight toward the steep hill near the flower garden. Prickles' ears twitched.
He unrolled and threw himself under the rolling apple just in time. Thunk! The fruit lodged securely between his quills and stayed balanced.
"I have a ride!" he announced, holding the apple high so no one could miss.
Prickles offered a crunchy apple to every friend. A bunny patted his soft belly and giggled. "Your quills are the best snack carrier ever!"
Prickles struts past the flower beds, his back heavy with treasures. Ready for the next adventure.
