Meera puts on her favorite polka-dot dress and places a cardboard crown atop her head.
She declares, 'I am the princess of this castle.' A bird taps three times against the glass.
Leo and Maya burst into the room, their shoes scuffing on the wooden floor. 'Play house!' Leo cries.
Meera hugs her plastic teapot close, backing toward the table as the floorboards creak.
Maya points at a broken wheel on a red wagon near the window. 'It won't roll,' she says.
Meera snatches her tiny toolkit and kneels, fiddling with the axle until the wheel snaps free with a pop.
The wheel rolls happily across the rug while both children cheer.
Meera turns to show off her fix, but her cardboard crown slides down over her eyes. She stumbles and crashes into the toy chest.
She sits in the heap of toys, a tear plinking onto the floor, until Leo picks up the crown and places it back on her head.
'Now you're a princess,' he says. 'A princess who fixes things.' Meera holds out her hand to help them up.
They drag cushions, stack blocks, and arrange the table as a drawbridge. The castle grows tall and mighty.
She whispers, 'I am the princess of this castle.' Leo and Maya echo it, and she smiles.
