Ricky stood in front of his brick house. His brothers carried straw and sticks from the yard.
The sun warmed the red walls. Bricks clinked as he tapped each one into place. The roof was solid.
A shadow fell across the yard. The wolf huffed and puffed at the straw house.
The roof flew off in a swirl. Ricky grabbed his brothers' paws and ran.
They skidded to a stop at the brick doorway. The wolf caught up behind them.
The wolf puffed his cheeks and huffed and puffed at the brick house.
The walls shivered. The brothers cried and tugged on Ricky's sleeve.
Ricky spotted the star-marked brick his father carved and pressed it into the wall.
The bricks rattled, then went still. The door giggled and refused to open.
Ricky planted his hooves. 'The door is locked,' he told the wolf.
The wolf huffed until he turned purple and collapsed on his back with a wheeze.
A tiny flower popped up by the door. Ricky turned. His brothers were right there.
