Rain tapped the school windows. Roberto stepped into the green yard, slipped—SPLASH!—and landed beside Ferguse and Shane.
Roberto popped up and held out a little paper boat. “Bom dia!” The boat sailed toward the garden gate.
The boat drifted into the school garden. A muddy path blocked Ferguse and Shane, so Roberto tapped a rhythm on the fence and sang a short Brazilian song.
Ferguse clapped along. Shane pointed under a leaf. A bright blue feather gleamed beside the paper boat.
They searched together. They lifted a stone, peeked beneath a bench, and shook a dripping bush. PLOP! A tiny rainbow flashed in a puddle.
A raindrop landed. The rainbow vanished. Roberto spotted the paper boat caught in a thorny rosebush.
Roberto, Ferguse, and Shane tugged together. The boat came free—WHOOSH! A hidden rainbow burst across the wet garden.
They shouted and laughed. The rainbow shimmered over roses, lettuces, and shining puddles.
The children sailed the paper boat through the rainbow puddle. Rain pattered on the leaves as Ferguse sang Roberto’s Brazilian song.
Shane splashed beside Roberto. Together, the three children raced toward the school door while the paper boat bobbed behind them.
